Welcome to my practice - Reaching out and asking for help can be a tough thing to do. It is the first step each of us must take in the process of dealing with the challenges in our lives. A good fit between you and your therapist is extremely important so that you feel comfortable, listened to and understood. I hope that the information I give you will help you decide whether there might be a good fit between you and me.
My experience and specialties - As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Marriage Family Therapist, I have over 30 years of experience helping individuals and couples who are dealing with overwhelming anxiety or depression, a complicated or upsetting time, a difficult issue or decision, life transition, medical challenge, the loss of a loved one or a much-wanted pregnancy. Although I see clients who are coming to terms with a wide range of issues, I do have specializations in:
REPRODUCTIVE and POSTPARTUM ISSUES: infertility, high risk pregnancy, pregnancy loss, termination due to a medical problem or genetic abnormality, postpartum depression. I have experience dealing with my own miscarriages and challenges getting pregnant as an older woman.
CANCER and LIFE-THREATENING ILLNESS: I have 27 years of experience working with cancer at the Cancer Support Community. I help cancer patients and their families deal with the initial diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and end of life issues. I also work with women making the difficult decision whether to test for the BRCA mutation and dealing with the results.
My approach - When working with clients I draw upon my professional as well as my personal experiences. I think of therapy as a collaboration, so we will work together as a team. We will identify your priorities and places where you’re stuck and will come up with ways that you can move forward with awareness and confidence.
